Dopo aver avuto due bambine, Dipak e Saraswati aspettano con trepidazione la nascita di un altro figlio, il maschio tanto atteso. Dipak è una guardia giurata che sogna ancora le glorie di quando, da ragazzo, giocava a calcio; Saraswati è una casalinga che adora e rispetta suo marito. La dea Tripura esaudisce le loro preghiere. Dopo qualche settimana, però, il piccolo muore e la famiglia, una volta felice, cade in rovina. Saraswati si rivolge disperata a Gita, una "jhangrini", una guaritrice, riverita dalla comunità come una medium. Ma Gita ha cominciato a dubitare delle cose in cui crede, dopo che la vita le ha riservato tante sofferenze e disgrazie. La sua crisi mistica si rivelerà tragica per tutti.

After having sold two daughters, Dipak and Saraswati anxiously wait for another child to come, the ever-expected son. Dipak is a uniformed guard and still dreams the glories of his former carrier as a football player in the army; Saraswati is a homely woman who adores and respects her husband. Goddes Tripura answers their prayers. Nonetheless, just a few weeks after, the boy dies, throwing the once happy family in a complete break-down. Desperate Saraswati goes to Gita, a "jhangrini", a healer, acclaimed as a medium from the community. But Gita has started to doubt her own beliefs, after life gave her so many sufferings and tragedies. His mystic crisis will turn out to be a tragedy for all.

E’ nato a Kathmandu, Nepal, nel 1968. La sua filmografia comprende tre documentari: Tears of Torture (1994), Shower of Virtue and Goodness (1996) e The Spirit Doesen’t Come Anymore (1997) e due cortometraggi, Breath (1995) e Marriage Proposal (1996).

Mask of Desire (1999) è il suo primo lungometraggio.

He was born in Kathmandu, Nepal, in 1968. His filmography comprises three documentaries: Tears of Torture (1994), Shower of Virtue and Goodness (1996) and The Spirit Doesn’t Come Anymore (1997) and two shorts, Breath (1995) and Marriage Proposal (1996). Mask of Desire (1999) marks his debut in feature films.
