Estate 1952. Lontano dai combattimenti della guerra coreana. Due grandi amici, Sungmin e Changhee, sono testimoni di qualcosa di terribile che avrebbero preferito non vedere. In un mulino abbandonato, la madre di Changee si intrattiene con un G.I., mentre il padre di Sungmin, suo protettore, fa la guardia. Changee decide di vendicarsi. Il giorno seguente, senza dire una parola a Sungmin, scompare dopo aver dato fuoco al mulino dentro cui un G.I. e una prostituta stanno facendo l’amore. E’ passato un anno. Nei pressi di quel mulino, viene ritrovato il corpo di un ragazzino orribilmente sfigurato dalle ustioni...

It’s the summer of 1952. Far from the battleground of the Korean war. Two best friends, Sung Min and Chang Hee, are witness to something horrible that shouldn’t be seen. In a deserted mill Chang Hee’s mom entertains G.I., while Sung Min’s father stands guard as her pimp. Chang Hee wants revenge. The next day, without saying a word to Sung Min, he disappears after having burnt to ground the mill inside which a G.I. and a prostitute are having sex. A year goes by. The horribly bloated body of a young boy is discovered in a swamp near the mill...

Lee Kwangmo

Nato nel 1961. Segue i corsi di letteratura inglese alla Korea University e si diploma in regia all’UCLA. Dal 1995 insegna cinema all’Università di Chung-Ang. Fondatore del "Korean Film Art Centre", ha fatto conoscere nel suo paese film di grandi maestri come Bergman, Kiarostami e Tarkovskij. Ha realizzato due cortometraggi, The End of Journey (1987) e Obsession (1990) e ha scritto le sceneggiature di due film, Goodbye Seoul (1993) e Endless Circle (1994). Sceneggiatore di corti e lungometraggi a soggetto, ha ricevuto nel 1995 il Gran Premio al 7° Concorso di sceneggiature di Hartley Merrill negli Stati Uniti per Spring In My Hometown (1998), suo primo lungometraggio.

Born in 1961, majored in English at Korea University and received an MFA from UCLA. From 1995 he is a cinema professor at the Chung-Ang University. Founder of the "Korean Film Art Centre" he has brought to knowledge in his country films from great maestro like Bergman, Kiarostami and Tarkovskij. He has made two shorts: The End of Journey (1987) and Obsession (1990) and has written the screenplays of two films, Goodbye Seoul (1993) and Endless Circle (1994). He has written many shorts and feature screenplays. In 1995 won the Hartley Merrill Prize for best screenplay with Spring In My Hometown (1998), his debut in feature film.
