Burma, Treasures and Scars is born in a spontaneous way
during a travel across Burma. The purpose of this documentary
set out to persuade the organized tourism not to choose
this country as holiday destination. This aim is reflected in
the title: “treasures” are the plenty of imagines and music of
incredible beauty, the “scars” symbolize the price these treasures
had and still have to pay. Here are revealed the narrations
of peasants, children, men and women, victims of abuses
of power, tortures and injustice who express with one
voice only one entreaty: freedom. This journey through
Burma was a journey in the history of the present and the
past, in Buddhism, in the hope and in hard labour; and finally
a visitation in the refugees camp of one of the most ancient
ethnic groups of the world, the Karen, and their stories and
testimonies of the most recent outrages.
