ASIATICAFILMMEDIALE – Encounters with Asian cinema 18-26 November 2006, Rome Auditorium, Casa del Cinema and Cinema Farnese located in Piazza Campo dei Fiori house ASIATICAFILMMEDIALE, bridge of images and words between Asia and Italy. The festival will propose movies from: Bangladesh, China, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kyrghizstan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, The Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tibet. Two competitions: feature films and documentaries,
all Italyn premieres. Some anticipations: INAUGURATION EVENING at the Auditorium Parco
della Musica, with an event where music, cinema and poetry will
blend together. The popular Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed Aria
will read some poems by Forough Farrokhzad, the greatest woman poet
in modern Persian language, and author of the documentary “The
House Is Black” which will also be shown on this occasion. FOCUS ON KAZAKH CINEMA. Influenced by the Soviet school, the Kazakh filmmakers tried to destabilize the Soviet cultural roots and its influence by exploring new linguistic paths. The programme will show movies realised from 1996 up to date. We recreate the route – on film print – of the Kazakh cultural change. MEETING WITH LILIANA CAVANI, who will introduce a day debate dedicated to the Buddhist East. We will show “Milarepa” – directed by L. Cavani in 1974 – and others movies about Tibet.
