| Filmed during a period of over four years in
Burma, Thailand and the Thai/Burma border area, In the Shadow
of the Pagodas - The Other Burma is a documentary film which
aims to inform the international audience about a subject which
is nearly unknown outside the Thai national borders: the genocide
of Burma's ethnic minorities and the one of Christians and Muslims.
It is estimated that one million of internally displaced people
live today in the jungles of Burma, and still nothing of this
dramatic situation is shown to those who visit the country,
who are led, through a tourist-corridor, only to the sunny side
of it. Irene Marty and her team managed to meet the freedom
fighters and the rebel armies of Burma, and were able to reach
secluded areas never filmed before by a western camera. . |
