The 5th edition of Asiaticafilmmediale - Asian Film Festival in Rome. November 20-28, 2004 at Cinema Capranica, Cinema Capranichetta and Casa del Cinema.

Over 50 films and documentaries in Italyn premiere, among which three films nominated at the Academy Awards for best foreign film, coming from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Korea, Philipines, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Syria, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Uzbekhstan and Vietnam.

Many guests will attend the festival, participating to meetings and round tables.

The events will be many, including three retrospectives:

• Focus on Tokyo - a voyage into Japanese cinema of yesterday and today
• Homage to Yoichi Sai - at the presence of the author, a selection of the films of one of the most representative film makers of the social and satirical Japanese comedy
• Europe Vs. Asia - a European documentary view over Asia

The City of Rome Award to the work of an Asian film director will close the festival.
