a bus there is Meenakshi Iyer, with her nine-month old son,
Santanam. With them is Raja Chowdhary, a Muslim photographer
who was introduced to her through a common friend before leaving.
The bus is stopped by an angry mob of Hindu extremists on the
prowl for “religious victims”. Looking at the inhuman
way in which Muslims are being killed, she can’t help
but save Raja’s life. Meenakshi lies to the extremists,
saying that they are a married Hindu couple, Mr. and Mrs. Iyer.
The violence and enmity they witness all round brings them closer.
Humanity reshapes their old beliefs and religious differences
are soon forgotten. They now feel a strong attraction for each
other.
