Massimiliano Troiani
They claim to be women to every extent. They take part in weddings, when an infant is born, at the opening of a new shop, without being formally invited, so that they can “bless” everybody. No one dares to send them away, conversely, they are welcome and well paid, although they live in small communities in the poorest parts of the city. They are colled Hijiras, India’s eunuchs, who change sex straight before their adolescence. These are outcasts (often of Muslim religion) devoted to Mother Earth and have recently, still wearing their saris and golden ear-rings, attained success in the political milieu. .
