“Hibakusha” is a term that originally referred
to survivors of the atomic bombing. They are considered victims,
because they have long suffered from the effects of the atomic
disaster. They managed to survive, but they were deprived
of decent human existences. The director shows us how the
word “Hibakusha” can be applied not just to the
victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but also to the Iraqi population
and to the American Soldiers, who have experienced the consequences
and the unseen damages of radioactive contamination.
